Nestor (Jimmy Smits), a political prisoner in Cuba, is eventually released after eight years of incarceration and travels to Miami to be re-united with his wife and daughter. His wife (Greta Scacchi), however, has fallen in love with another man and Nestor must choose between his politics and the chance to win back his wife.
